Dolly is the No1 saw-filing tutor in the world and this price represents outstanding value. Her 2-day class covers the 12 steps required to sharpen and tune your crosscut saw right from cleaning to pointing up the teeth. We’ll have saw-holding vises, supplies & methods for cleaning your saw, a selection of tools and files, and lots of information. You’ll bring leather gloves, safety glasses, closed toe shoes, eyewear that gives you perfect vision at 30 cm. and any saw tools and files you think you’d like to use. Bring your own saw or borrow one of ours.  Files will be available for purchase. Early bird price £99, thereafter £120. Includes a cracking good lunch both days!


Saw Sharpening Mar 25th 2017 £75

All files and saw-vises provided. Either bring your own saw (min 36" long) or resurrect one of ours. Learn Great American and Peg Tooth jointing, filing and setting. Learn rust-removal techniques e.g. molasses and water, electrolysis or grill bricks and water.

Bowl Carving 26 Mar 2017 £50

Take home your own fresh hand-carved bowl. No tools or prior experience needed. £50. From 10 am to 5 pm; includes lunch.

Weekly group sessions in Greenwoodworking & Bread baking

  • Taster session FREE: 30 mins - visit the Shed & try the activities

  • Group sessions run Thursday afternoons 12:30 to 14:30 @ £15 / hour for those who do not need one-to-one support

  • Fees due 1 week in advance

  • Personalised one-to-one sessions: £30 / hour for someone needing individual attention

  • We can travel to you at some extra charge for pack-up and transport

Greenwoodworking Courses

Course run on request. Generally 3 days gives a sound introduction and will allow completion of several projects.

The  standard 3-day syllabus allows flexibility to cover the basics and focus on areas you find interesing. Topics include cleaving, drawknifing, the Golden Mean, bowlcarving, sharpening, pole-lathe turning, making a lathe or shave horse or making stools or chairs. 

Tuition fees include all materials, tea &  coffee and lunch of soup.
